Joining with Ginny for Yarn Along today!
This week I cast on a Sunday Sweater for Lyddie in size 4/5 and am really love the pattern. I am using Ella Rae classic superwash in a gorgeous gray that I think is wonderful. I thought it was going to be a little splitty but has actually been fine. I was looking for a yarn that was soft, and good for everyday wear matching almost anything. I think it will probably be big on Lyddie this fall since she doesn't turn four until November and she is a small three year old but I didnt' want to make a 2/3 and then have it be too small or only get a couple months wear out of it. Since the pattern is meant to be loose and comfy I think it will work out.
One of my goals this year was to figure out blocking so I had a couple projects that hadn't been blocked that I tackled this week. The Rio dress of course and the Milo for Rosie that will fit this fall. I love how they turned out. I had a couple people ask about the back of the Rio - I made a mistake (I was working on joining after the neck during a bumpy and interesting part of our drive to a family hike one day) and the buttonholes are on the side of the neck that go underneath. Instead I am going to make buttonloops and add little silver buttons with flowers that my mom found for me at her LYS...I will hopefully finish it all up in the next couple weeks!
And in reading news... I have been reading The Snow Child as pictured above and I was hooked from about the first two paragraphs. The writing style is lovely and I feel like I really know the two main characters. It is one of those books about falling in love again with your spouse and I always reach over and give Jesse a hug after reading a chapter or two before bed; it makes me grateful for the wonderful gift of my husband. I am not quite halfway through but I have a feeling it is going to make me cry; it has the feeling of a book that will have a bittersweet ending, especially given some of the foreshadowing going on. Bittersweet or not, it's a wonderful read and I'm trying to get through it before it is due back to the library.
And last but not least... Millie's preferred location for their morning show - wedged between the couch and coffee table at my feet. Precious snugglebug!
Such pretty knits!!! I love the color on that dress. I really wish I could knit one for myself.

ReplyDeletePretty little dress in that gorgeous colour too. Shame about those perfect buttonholes under there.
Enjoy the reading.
I know I'm a week late but couldn't go past and not comment on how darling the Rio and Milo turned out for Miss Rosie, she is sure going to look sweet this fall.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ruth! Add to that that my mom has been busily pumping out adorable projects and this baby is going to be able to wear only handknits all fall! Lucky baby!
