Jewels

 Guess who has a finished object to show off today?!  After weeks of sharing a wadded up pile of knitting the same exact color, I finally completed and blocked my Sugared Violets wrap today.  My dear husband commented that it seemed a little "old-fashioned."  As payback, he gets featured in this really flattering picture I snapped while testing the camera settings before I modeled the wrap.  Old-fashioned or not, it is really cozy to wear, sometimes as a scarf but I really do often drape it over my shoulders like a small blanket, which is exactly how it acts.  I don't really wear that many sweaters, partly because I feel like they are always a little bulky over my wrists and don't push up/stay up well when I do dishes, which is about 6 hours of the day, it seems.  But this has been comfortable and warm in just the right amount.

In other news, I am working on some baby booties, aren't they sweet?  I haven't updated my ravelry page with a project link but they are the "Lovebug Booties" that I've been itching to make for a while now.  I almost never work on multiple projects at once (with the exception of a long lace shawl that comes out every once in a while) so I was set on finishing my Sugared Violets first.  I also have a few new skeins of yarn ready for my next project, although it's still undecided.  I love the two blues I picked out.  I am realizing that jewel tones are my favorite to wear these days; dark blues and deep purples especially.  I am joining in with Ginny's Yarn Along again today and am excited to peruse what others are working on, as always!

It was a peaceful day with oatmeal chocolate chip cookies  from my favorite food blog, a quick stop in at the tiny library in the neighboring small town, some cleaning, lots of laundry, and a little visit with some friends and their little ones made the evening go quickly.  Lots to be thankful for but yet I'm not feeling a great deal of peace.  I am feeling some grief for a friend and their family, and for the sorrow and brokenness that affect the children, youth, and adults of the reservation.  But tonight was youth group; many of the youth were able to gather and laugh over Pixar shorts and have a meal together and maybe some of them will fall asleep tonight with a full stomach and with a happy memory related to God's love for them. He is good and is doing great things around me.

That's what's on my mind tonight, anyway.
