Yarn Along, June 12

~Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading!  I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well.  So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now?  What are you reading?  Take a photo and share it either on your blog or on Flickr.  Leave a link over at Ginny's Yarn Along to share your photo with the rest of us!~

This week I cast on a Rio dress for Rosie since I finished Amelia's Acacia top!  Pictures to come later this week!

My mom and I took my girls on their first trip to a yarn store, in little Ellensburg an hour away- Yarn Folk is a new shop and I enjoyed the trip so much. I have never bought so much yarn at one time! I have yarn now for my next three projects and that is really a fun feeling.

If you look closely, you'll see I did some seed stitch in a stockinette section, so I am currently unknitting five rows. This most assuredly happened when Millie was antagonizing Lyddie, who, poor girl, hit her breaking point and was about to pick up her sister and throw her down on the concrete patio.  I was just hoping to make it to the end of my row before needing to intervene (I didn't).  Someone please tell me I am not the only knitter who longs to just get to the END of the row before having put it away and enter into discipline or put on shoes or wipe a little bum, or other such delightful mommy tasks.

The yarn is a complete delight to work with and I think the color will be gorgeous on my little blue eyed brunette!  I usually take a picture of my project earlier on Tuesday in the daylight but forgot today, so the color is poorly represented by my flash photography.  Oh well.

No Yarn Along post would be complete without some baby pictures!  Rosemary Joy is 6 weeks old now!  Incredible, since it seems like she has always been part of our family, but other times I still can't six weeks have passed.

She is, overall, a pretty happy baby, and sleeps well at night most of the time.  She wants to be held-held-held, so I make good use of the three different carriers/wraps I have so I can get through my day!  She also seems to hate being alone at all, even for a minute.  If she is in the swing, she will only be happy if I am in the room, and even then, her happiness only lasts a few minutes.  Evenings are the most difficult, and occasionally she seems like she has gas and other times like she is tired but unwilling to settle and sleep yet.  I am tired and struggling a little bit to adjust.  I feel like I can't get anything done during the day or like I have any quiet time alone, so then I am tempted to stay up later but then I struggle even more to be cheerful or productive during the day, so I need to make it a habit to get in bed a little earlier.  Vicious, vicious cycle!

  1. OH my word! The 5th picture down of Rosie is the spitting image of you as a baby. I truly had to do a double take!

PS: Glad you intervened before Lyddie had to take drastic action! :)

  2. Be encouraged! You have a 6 wk old - you're not supposed to be getting anything done yet. I was actually thinking that the color of the yarn in the picture was really lovely, so I'm curious to see what it is in better light. Keep on keeping on! Rest when you can!

  3. Oh, I remember those days! Way too often I chose the 'stay up so I could have me time'. I've learned that so often choosing ME only ends in disaster. Go to bed early. Yes, Go to bed early.

Beautiful blue on a blue eyed brunette. Beautiful.

    Blessings, Debbie

Yes, I try to finish a row before I set my project down too! I can stop in the middle of a crochet row, but the race is on if I am knitting. :)

    ADORABLE baby!
