Yarn Along Deliciousness

Do you ever finish knitting a project and let it sit for several days before weaving in the ends and blocking?  I'm sure you do, at least sometimes - most knitters I have come across seem take a breather before doing the finishing work.  On the one hand it seems a little silly but on the other hand, I think it gives a fresh appreciation for the finished product once one gets back to it.  The In Threes cardigan for Millie is currently at rest on the end table near the couch, waiting for me to buy buttons and weave in ends and finally to block it.  The true color is not at all represented by the picture above.  It is a lovely creamy color, not quite yellow and not quite white.  I think it will go well over many of Millie's sweet fall and winter clothes.

Promptly after I finished knitting up the sweater, I put a skein of Quince & Co. Lark (in Iceland) to work in the form of a Vanilla soaker for Rosie.  She is outgrowing her tiny baby diaper covers and I am seeking to be converted to the Order of Wool soakers that so many ardently profess.  I would always prefer to put my baby in handknit fibers over PUL covers any day, if the rumors of wonder-wool are true (which I expect they are).

I started reading The Search for Delicious by Natalie Babbit, and, as expected, am loving it.  It has a similar flavor to some of the Kate DiCamillo I have been reading these past few months.  I started reading Little House in the Big Woods with Lyddie, and she loves it.  Otherwise, lots of picture books scattered through my day.  One of our favorites from the library right now is Martina the Beautiful Cockroach by Carmen Agra Deedy.  It's the story of a beautiful cockroach who is entertaining suitors and follows some interesting (and effective) advice from her abuela (grandmother) to weed out the bad 'uns. The story is cute and the pictures are beautiful. We also love Llama Llama, Red Pajama, which Millie was giggling over just before I snapped the picture below.  Actually, Lyddie hates the book now as she developed a totally irrational fear of the velum and is terrified of a picture of the baby llama yelling with his mouth wide open.  But Millie still thinks the book is hysterical.

I always look forward to visiting others who join up with Ginny's Yarn Along on Wednesdays!  What are you working on and reading?

I love the In Threes, it's a gorgeous quick knit cardigan and Evelyn got loads of wear out of hers so I'm sure your Millie will to. I always leave things sit a day or two before doing the last bits lol. We are currently reading lots of stories with princesses for Elizabeth and Evelyn just loves a twinkle twinkle book all the children have, she loves it every night. The bigger children adore going to the library where we are nearly permanent fixtures and Benjamin and Ruairí are just starting to read so that is a whole different set of books there, it's wonderful that they love reading and it's even better reading with them.

    1. Thanks! I am sure we will wear it a ton - I love that it's short sleeved and so versatile! We love the library too, in fact, I was thinking of making a trip in today since we have a couple books overdue (arg, the DOWN side to using the library so much!) I am sure we will be there more and more as my munchkins get older!

  2. Your In Threes turned out great! I knit one for my granddaughter, but it's still too big for her.
