I have several books going and I like to write a little about them because these posts are like a book journal that I never have time to keep.
a) I am 2/3 of the way through The Magician's Land by Lev Grossman and am having a hard time putting it down each time I pick it up. It is really amazing.
b) I just bought The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up, which I read about in several various places online this week: first from Gretchen on last week's Yarn Along, and then from a friend on facebook and then another random blog that I was enjoying this week too! It seemed only natural to check it out! I'm only a few pages in so I can't comment in too much depth at this point.
c) I'm also listening to Sense and Sensibility, a couple chapters a week on CraftLit. There is a line that has been ringing through my mind since I listened last week, spoken by Willoughby about Colonel Brandon: "He has threatened me with rain when I wanted it to be fine," So revealing of his true nature, which isn't apparent yet at this point in the story. I forgot how much I love Jane Austen!
What are you knitting and reading this week? I'm sharing at Ginny's Yarn Along, are you?
I do love Jane Austen! That sweater is divine - love the yoke. I will have to look at some of those patterns. Love the shawl in the top photo as well!
ReplyDeleteThat little sweater is stunning, a real delight. I must check out those patterns.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite line in Sense and Sensibility is when Elinor asks Maryanne if she compares her own conduct to Willoughby's, and she says, "no, I compare it to what it should have been, I compare it to yours." Such great life lessons in Jane! Great sweater! Good luck with the mystery knits.
ReplyDeleteOh I love that part too... haven't gotten back there yet but I remember that line. Oh Maryanne, you still have so much growing up to do from where I sit at the moment!
DeleteOh how sweet Rosie looks in her sweater--that yarn worked so well with the pattern. I bought the tidy up book too! I saw it discussed a few weeks ago, and bit the bullet yesterday and purchased it on my Kindle. I haven't looked at it yet though.
ReplyDeleteLove you!

Haha!! We'll have to chat about it this weekend then! I have mixed feelings on it - I want to sit that author down and have her explain to me how this system works when it's not your own personal clutter but the clutter of other people in your house too! haha!
Deletebeautiful sweater and she looks so sweet in it!! We have a cold day today but the last three days was really hot!!
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful sweater and she looks adorable in it! Last summer, I read Sense and Sensibility such a great read. Jane is just the best!
ReplyDeletea gorgeous little sweater and an even sweeter model!
ReplyDeleteThe sweater looks gorgeous on your little one!
ReplyDeleteShe is so adorable !!! and the sweater is too. I am going to add your books to my list. Thanks
ReplyDeleteLovely sweater! My son, who's eight, no longer lets me knit sweaters for him insisting a t-shirt is all he needs even in our cold MN winters.
ReplyDeleteSo, so lovely, Sarah! We are still cool here west of the Cascades, but summer will be here soon enough with its heat. Of course, it's always warmer and dryer on your side of the mountains. I wish I had more time for reading right now as I'm always so inspired by all the Yarn Along recommendations!
