yarn along: sparklers

Happy July, friends!  We spent the fourth quietly at home with my parents visiting for the weekend.  It was relaxing in spite of a feverish and fussy two year old trying to cut her final two-year molars.  I am a totally lame mom who only bought a few sparklers and pop-its and a few tiny little ground fireworks but my sweet girls were thrilled and didn't know better, especially since we've never done more than that anyway, but usually we end up going somewhere we see an aerial show. Because of Rosie's fever and 105 degree weather, we decided against driving into town for any of the fireworks shows but living on a Reservation, all we had to do was walk to the end of the driveway and to the end of our little street to get a decent show once we cleared the orchards.  The rest of the day was spent making food and splashing in the pool and knitting.

Speaking of knitting, happy yarn along day!  Last week I got my post up late in the day and didn't have much time to click through many links.   This week I continue to work on my Adama cowl and am finally not making mistakes every other row.  It will be nice to have yet another option for cowl this fall and winter, though it's hard to imagine cold weather right now.

I am on the last few pages of Big Stone Gap - fun read!  I just got notice that an electric copy of All The Light We Cannot See is ready for me to check back out.  I think I'll read the next book about Big Stone Gap at the same time - light and fluffy paired with heavy and meaningful.  I'm listening to Sense and Sensibility and The Scarlet Letter (a very little bit at a time) on CraftLit.

What are you all up to this week?  Are you knitting in the heat?
Linking up to Ginny for Yarn Along as I love to do!

  2. I do hope your wee one is feeling better, cutting teeth is so hard.
It's hot here too, but I continue to knit and dream of winter. Your Adama cowl looks great.
Have fun reading All the Light We Cannot See, I was sorry to reach the last page, I loved it!

  3. Knitting in the cold here! Love the photos with the sparklers - gorgeous! Here we are only allowed sparklers as all fireworks are illegal, other than professional organised events. Hope your littlest is feeling better soon. Poor thing, having a fever in the heat.
Sounds like you have had a good week - must have been lovely having your parents for a visit.

  9. I had to return my copy of "All the Light..." as it was overdue, so I didn't get to finish it...not even close. I'm re-adding my name to the wait list and hope for more time when it's my turn again. :)

  10. I remember sparklers as a kid. Mine seemed to be too afraid of getting burnt...? Oh well, they grew out of that and desired the "BIG" fireworks... ummm, NO! Yes, I am one of those moms. :)
Happy July and HAPPY KNITTING! :)

  12. Phew, 105 is HOT. I do knit in the heat, but I don't think I've had the chance to knit in 105 yet! Our "hot" summer days are rather chilly right now. Your sparklers do look fun! Every type of firework is illegal in my town, and my parents were good rule-followers, so we only went to the town show every year :) So I'd count your girls as lucky!!!
