Fall Days Yarn Along
I finally made it to the fabric store to buy materials to finish Millie's In Threes. I was on the fence about whether to improvise and do some cross-stitch across the yoke and if so, whether to do one row, two rows, the hem... Last night I just jumped in and I really like the effect. I will do just the one row so it doesn't get too busy. Purple, being her favorite color, was my first color choice and I like this shade - kind of lilac. The buttons are from Joann's (and I added the last two buttons after I took this picture) and the thread is DMC Pearl Cotton. I am also still working on the Vanilla diaper soaker with Quince & Co. Lark that I mentioned last week; it is my first project with a provisional cast-on and short rows, so I guess I learned a couple new skills in a very basic project.
I have started a fun October read -Dracula! I have never read it and don't even really know the plot. I thought about listening to it via the Craftlit podcast but since the only time I really get to listen to the podcast right now is late at night as I drift off to sleep... I decided that wasn't the best way to read it. I also picked up Because of Winn Dixie at the library last week but haven't started it yet - it's been a busy week!
This week has been busy and knitting has taken a backseat to other seasonal activities. Kingdom Kids (the after-school program Jesse leads that meets in our Clubhouse next door to our house) started up last week and I have had the privilege of working with the kids one afternoon a week which I am loving to do.
Lots of long sleeves and handknits around here this week since the weather has begun to crisp up and turn. Long afternoon naps and sleepy wake-up eyes, baby all over the place as she gets so close to true crawling, and snuggling on the couch with library picture books.
