march creations

On the needles this week :  Memoirs mitts by Melissa Schaschwary (Dandiliongirl on Ravelry).  I have favorited so many of her patterns but never knit any and I really love this design with the buttons and the lace.  The yarn is Woolen Rabbit Emma and not represented well in my night-time photography. I wish I had enough to make the hat too and might order another skein.

I finished Jesse's hat and blocked it.

I have been sewing too!  I made this little baby doll carrier to be ready for Rosie's birthday next month.  I think she will love it (once she realizes what it is!)  I used this tutorial and it was really easy to follow.  I enlarged it a little bit because I just liked the look better. The head support can button up or button down (button practice for little chubby fingers!) so the baby doll can face inward or outward - AH!  I love it!

My books this week are Howard Pyle's Arthur stories, Outlander by Diana Gabaldon, and The Prairie Thief by Melissa Wiley. The Prairie Thief has been recommended several times on the Read Aloud Revival podcast and I see why; it's great!  It's so well written and the story is so original (prairie life mixed with fantasy! Fun, right?).  I am reading it for my own pleasure but also to pre-read it for the girls because I know they're going to love it when I eventually read it aloud.

What are you making and reading this week? I am linking up to Ginny for Yarn Along

  2. I am a huge fan of Dandiliongirl's patterns too, she is wonderful.
Your carrier is so cute. My mom was a seamstress and sewed all the time,
    sadly I didn't get that gene ;)

  5. The doll carrier is so sweet! I use a wrap for my babies so they are happy to carry their dollies in a scarf, phew, because my sewing is a long way from your standard!
