yarn along: oh yay

Happy November!  Nothing new on the knitting front, still my Hitofude.  I feel like I should do some Christmas knitting but I have no ideas and have been too busy to figure out what I could or should do.  So I'm just keeping knitting as something I do for pure enjoyment at the moment.

I began the final book of the Wingfeather Saga, The Warden and the Wolf King. So good.  I was going to read more from the Big Stone Gap series as I posted last week but, you know, I just didn't want to. I realized I was making myself read them because others loved them and because I like to finish what I start.  So, I put it down for good, not for later.  I picked up a book I actually wanted to read.

I am listening to War of the Worlds (Classic Tales podcast), King Lear (ChopBard), and just listened a spooky story by none other than Rose Wilder Lane (CraftLit) - did you know she wrote a scary short story?  It was fun to listen to, although I didn't have time on Halloween.  A listener to CraftLit secured the rights for the audio for one year for Heather to record and make available, so go check it out!

You can see Millie's finished raccoon costume, tail, mask, and all.  I made the mask too.  :)    Ryder Raccoon hood project notes here.

I smiled to see that in my yarn along post from this week last year, I was reading the second of the same book series.  Do you ever do that, look back on what you wrote this time last year? This is my 71st Yarn Along post - although I think there are more that I just forgot to tag because I've been participating pretty religiously for two and a half years now. It remains a highlight of my week.  It sounds silly but one of the first things I think on Wednesday mornings is "Oh yay!  Yarn Along day!" and I click right over to Ginny's see who's doing what.  I love seeing what others are working on and it makes knitting something bigger to me when I participate in any kind of community, even an online one.  So come along and join in too!  Leave me a note and I'll make sure to stop by your blog too if I haven't already!

  1. Millie and her costume are adorable! So, so cute! And your hitofude is coming along...before you know it, you'll be finished! I bought the pattern, but have too many projects going to cast on. Thanks for sharing about the Wilder story...I'm popping over as soon as finish this comment. Ever since I got my smart phone, I've been enjoying audio literature like I never have; I guess not having to lug the laptop around helps.

I have no idea how many posts I've done, but I've been pretty sporadic. I'm always so grateful and amazed to find everyone so welcoming...as if I hadn't missed a beat. Such a wonderful community, for sure! *hugs* :)
